What do I need in order to start controlling my KÜhl unit on FriedrichLink? You will need the following:
  • - KÜhl room air conditioner, "N" model series*
  • - 1 FriedrichLink Wi-Fi Adapter Accessory per KÜhl unit (sold separately)
  • - An Internet connection and a wireless (Wi-Fi) home network (Make sure you have your Wi-Fi Network Name and Password on hand)

Note: The FriedrichLink Wi-Fi Adapter provides a fast, secure connection between your KÜhl room air conditioner and a wireless b/g/n router on your home network.

*FriedrichLink will only work on "N" series KÜhl air conditioners. Your model number must end with an "N##" (for example SM18N30 or YS10N10) in order to be used in conjunction the FriedrichLink Wi-Fi Adapter Accessory. Models ending in "M##" (for example SM18M30 or YS10M10) are not compatible with FriedrichLink.

Where can I find more information about secured wireless networks? You will need to contact the manufacturer of your wireless network router.
Where do I find the Registration Code (Reg. ID)? The Registration Code (Reg. ID) is listed on the back of the FriedrichLink adapter. (See image below) It has the format XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX and is also referred to as a MAC address.
How many units can I control over Wi-Fi at one time with my FriedrichLink Wireless adapter? Only one unit can be controlled wirelessly by each FriedrichLink adapter. Every unit must have a unique FriedrichLink adapter in order to be controlled over Wi-Fi. Units that have their own FriedrichLink adapter which are registered to the same user may be organized as a "group" (Grouping function coming soon) and controlled with a single schedule.

My FriedrichLink adapter will not communicate with my air conditioner. What should I check? There must be a Wi-Fi signal at the KÜhl unit. If the Wi-Fi symbol is flashing on the KÜhl unit control panel, make certain that there is a good signal where the KÜhl unit is installed and that the SSID and password you entered during the installation are correct. Should you need further assistance, please contact our Customer Service Department at (800) 541-6645. Please have your Registration ID number, SSID and password available at the time of the call. We're open between 8AM and 5PM CT, Monday through Friday.
Can I use FriedrichLink on my 2011 KÜhl air conditioner? No, FriedrichLink will only work on "N" series KÜhl room air conditioners. Your model number must end with an "N##" (for example SM18N30 or YS10N10) in order to be used in conjunction the FriedrichLink Wi-Fi Adapter Accessory. 2011 or earlier models ending in "M##" (for example SM18M30 or YS10M10) are not compatible with FriedrichLink.

While "M" models do not support the Wi-Fi functionality, they do have a wired thermostat terminal which can be used in conjunction with various internet-ready wall thermostat providers.
Registration ID
An alphanumeric code (also known as a MAC address) that uniquely identifies your computer or handheld device. Your FriedrichLink Wireless Adapter has a unique registration ID on the backside. It consists of twelve alphanumeric digits. You will need this Registration ID in order to gain wireless access to your Kühl room air conditioner.
Unit Nickname
A name you pick for your air conditioner so that you can easily identify it on FriedrichLink™. This feature can be especially helpful if you have more than one unit or groups of units to control.
Room Temperature
The room temperature at or very near the air conditioner in the room where the unit is located.
Set Point Temperature
The desired temperature you set on your thermostat.
Scheduler
This is where you create your temperature settings, on and off times and custom 7-day schedules.
IP Address
An Internet Protocol address (IP address) is a numerical label assigned to each device (e.g., computer, printer) participating in a computer network that uses the Internet Protocol for communication.
